We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

A challenge has been set by a friend of mine to get 60 people to each raise £600 for this amazing charity and to support people who suffer from this terrible condition that steals memories and so much more.  I have previously lost my father to this condition and now have a wonderful uncle who is battling the condition too.

It is difficult to appreciate the challenges this condition brings to both the sufferer and the people around them. We hope that by overcoming this smaller challenge, we can help raise much needed funds and awareness for the charity that is spearheading the support of sufferers and their loved ones, to ease their everyday lives.

The challenge to me is no mean feat. This is going to be the toughest physical and mental challenge I have taken on and will need a significant amount of training  beforehand. I work for a charity that promotes the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle and as such a small group of us are looking to visit each of our venues starting in Whitby traveling to Scarborough then on to Sheffield, Chesterfield and finally finishing in Derby within a 24 hour time frame all by the power of a bicycle. This is not a flat route by any means and I am not the typical 10st cyclist either. ;)

Your support in this challenge will be greatly appreciated.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
