About Me

I'll be 49 years old when I start this ride. Doing around 100 miles a day is going to take a toll on me but I'm up for the challenge and will gladly suffer for it.

Who am I doing this for?

Through our Choose Love campaign, we want to help support some of the 65.3 million people displaced from their homes due to conflict or natural disaster.

Money raised will go to our longstanding partner UNHCR and Europe’s largest grassroots distributor of aid, Help Refugees. Both charities play a critical role supporting both the immediate and long term needs of those who are displaced.

For the past 3 years the Vodafone Foundation has been working with UN’s Refugee Agency to connect classrooms in some of the world’s most poorly resourced refugee camps. Our Instant Network Schools provide teachers and students with access to digital educational resources, the internet and connects them to inspirational leaders from all around the world through dedicated online lessons.

Currently Vodafone have 31 Instant Network Schools benefiting over 43,000 students and 600 teachers each month in Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, the DRC and in Greece, helping people displaced from Syria and other conflict areas, – the aim is to reach over 3 million young people by 2020. This year, 50% of all funds raised by the Vodafone Foundation’s Choose Love campaign will be channeled towards increasing the number of Instant Network Schools.

In partnership with UNHCR money raised will allow us to continue to enable young refugees to access a quality digital education through our Instant Network Schools in both Africa and Greece. Working with Help Refugees we want to provide food, shelter and access to information for refugees across Europe.

The Vodafone Foundation also supports Télécoms Sans Frontières this charity is a humanitarian-aid non-governmental organization specialized in telecommunications in emergency situations. The emergency telecommunication means provided benefit to the victims of natural disasters and of conflicts, and to the other humanitarian aid organisations. A recent example of their work is making mobile phone connections possible on the island of Lesbos, to survivors of the perilous voyage, so they can let let their love ones know they are safe.

About the charity

Vodafone Foundation are currently raising funds for their All Together Now campaign, to help more young refugees achieve their dreams through access to quality education, by expanding Instant Network Schools, a joint programme with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.
