Story
As part of its year long fundraising campaign to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), Team Finance Wales's final challenge will be to cycle 107 miles in a day from Cardiff to Tenby on 6th May.
Raising money for JDRF is important as it allows them to continue their important research work into Type 1 diabetes. JDRF are the leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research.
Beth Bannister, a Finance Wales employee, nominated JDRF as FW's charity of the year as her daughter Alys was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 2. Alys is now 5 and has numerous blood tests and insulin injections to stay alive.
In a person with type 1 diabetes the pancreas does not work properly and cannot produce any insulin. Without insulin the body cannot turn food into the energy the body needs to survive. Tight control of her blood sugars will ensure she keeps healthy and minimises any potential health complications later in her life
Finance Wales has had a fantastic year of fundraising and CARTEN will be its final challenge for JDRF.
All our fundraising efforts will help the JDRF team get a step closer to finding the cure which may come in time to help Alys and other young children to lead a healthy life, free from Diabetes.
Thank you for your support for our fundraising activities.
Many Thanks, Diolch yn fawr
