I got a call last week from a childhood friend asking me if I'd like to come to this event. A friend of hers had to cancel and she offered me a night out free of charge and to catch up with old friends. I hadn't been able to go originally because my Dad was so poorly.
I lost my Mum to cancer 8 years ago and I lost my Dad on the 14th of January 2017 to colon cancer.
The hardest part is that my kids lost their grandparents and bringing them up without my Mum and Dad around feels pretty lonely sometimes.
So on Saturday I'll be dancing with my old friends I grew up with, who knew my parents, remember all my stories. My Mum loved to dance. My Dad loved to sing. So if you can spare a little, it'd mean a lot.
