In July, I will enter the Solent at Gilkicker Point near Gosport and will then proceed to swim to Ryde Sands on the Isle of Wight.  The total distance is around 3 miles depending on tidal currents and swimming speed and we will be crossing the shipping lane and so is a significant challenge.
