Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

There is no point sugar coating this.. I am a big lad and I have terrible knees!  Indeed I am probably as far as you can possibly get from Wiggo, Cav & Froome in the above picture which I took on Box Hill during the 2012 Olympic Road Race...

But on that same route and up that same hill on 30th July I too will go as I am riding the 100 mile course as part of Ride London.

Just to give you a feel: it starts at the Olympic Park, past Canary Wharf, through the City, over the Thames at Chiswick, through Richmond, Hampton Court, and out into the Surrey countryside. Having ridden South and enjoyed the sun (please!!) we then go up Leith Hill, through Dorking then hit those infamous zig zags at Box Hill.

After that we simply head North again - through Leatherhead, Oxshott and Esher back into London over Putney Bridge along the Embankment, across Parliament Square, up Whitehall, over Trafalgar Square under Admiralty Arch and finish on The Mall!

I mean how hard can it be??

Why? I hear you ask, well other than being a big lad, I am also CEO of a fantastic National Waste Management company called SWR and 2017 is our 10th Anniversary.

We have decided that as part of our celebrations we would like to give something back to our local community and have therefore selected Naomi House & Jacksplace as our chosen charity for the year.  We are trying to raise as much as possible - some of the team are doing a 26 mile walk, others the Gauntlet Games, others gardening at the site, cake sales.. you name it we will do it, and I'm riding 100 miles!

Naomi House and Jackspace hospices provide expert care to more than 340 life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their extended families from Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Berkshire, West Sussex, Surrey and the Isle of Wight.  Their nursing, care, play and family support teams are experts in delivering crucial, emotional, spiritual and developmental aspects of care that families need when a child or young person is diagnosed with a life-limiting condition.

Naomi House & Jacksplace becomes their home from home and the team there pull out all the stops to give those children and young people a peaceful and dignified end surrounded by family members.  But this level of care comes at a cost - some £7m a year of which 90% they have to find each year.

Its a wonderful place, a fantastic cause and with your donation and the delight you will have in making me half kill myself on two wheels we can make a difference.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
