This year I'm raising funds for the Naked Heart Foundation by participating in Paris Half Marathon in order to empower the charity's “Summer with Purpose” project and organise much needed integrative summer camps for children and young adults with autism across Russia.
The project has two key goals: first, to give children and young people with autism the opportunity to have a holiday, full of developmental possibilities to make them more independent, to develop social skills and enjoy an experience of holidaying without parental supervision; second, to give the specialist instructors working with them access to the most cutting-edge working methods. Participation in this project completely redraws these specialists’ working model, as they learn and adopt evidence-based methods of work of special needs children, and implement them not only at summer camps, but also in their daily working lives all year round, as well as passing on these new methods to colleagues, volunteers and parents.
