When you know what is wrong then that's okay because you can do something about, can't you?  Sadly not, not for the millions of people who suffer with ME.   

For a long time I knew something was wrong with me but I just wasn't quite sure what.  Years of going back and forth to the doctors always resulted in 'nothing' but it didn't feel like nothing to me.   I was not feeling better, I was slowly getting worse, frustrated and finding it hard to explain exactly what was wrong with me. 

I am still officially un-diagnosed but my journey introduced me to ME and once I knew about it, about all of the people who suffer with the condition who have no explanation, no cure and are sometimes not supported by medical professionals because very little is known about it, I just simply couldn't turn my back.  

I have found kindness, support and courage in those I have come across in the ME community.  No judgements, just help and encouragement and that is even without my diagnosis.  Without the help I was given by ME suffers I would have ended up making my own condition far far worse.  

It did mean I had to take stock of everything in my life and as a result of my illness throughout 2015 I gave up my most favourite hobby, roller derby. I still miss it dearly however I know I am very fortunate compared to many that I am able to do the things I do, but I still have to plan, compensate and ensure I rest.   

So this is why I am skating for ME and not just walking.  I always wanted to skate a marathon but that is not something I could ever attempt in one go anymore.  So it is time to get those skates back on again, even just for a little bit, and slowly accumulate the miles to help ME sufferers and their families.
