Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my just giving page

I have signed up to the wobbleberries challenge, which will entail my horse Danny and I quite literally wobbling around a BE80 by autumn 2017. Wobbleberries challenge is aimed at those who have lost their confidence or amateurs, which I felt was very fitting for us!

Funds raised from the wobbleberrie challenge go towards Hannah's Willbery Wonder Pony. Its a charity that was set up by Hannah who at the age of 17 was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer. It was Hannah's dream to compete at the top of the sport and very sadly never got to do so. Hannah sadly passed away in August this year (2016) but leaving a legacy to raise money for #Kickingcancersbutt. Hannah was an inspiration to all, setting up such a wonderful charity whilst she was terminally ill and she showed courage and kindness throughout it all, being part of raising money towards her charity is very close to my heart.

My story- I have spent my life dreaming of being a professional event rider, I trained after college with an international event rider for a few years and groomed at many prestigious events- badminton and burghley to name a few, but with a lack of funds and the arrival of my daughter it became an impossible dream. Taking Danny around a one day event is a somewhat smaller dream, but something I have dreamed of doing with him for years, but have never allowed myself enough time to train for - juggling working full time and being a mum to a horse mad daughter (who often gets to go jumping whilst Danny stays at home!)

A little about Danny 🏇🐴- he's a big 16.3hh 10 year old warmblood that my mum and I bred ourselves, so he's very much part of the family. He's called "Stanhopes Zorro" for posh but I call him "king Danny" as I'm sure he thinks he's a king and that everything should be done his way, which makes him challenging to ride and handle at times, but he's the soppiest horse you will meet- my 8 year old daughter adores him as they have grown up together- she may steal him one day! Danny and I have had quite a rollercoaster relationship, he was quite cold backed as a youngster and would rodeo badly, resulting in me falling off a fair few times and completely losing my confidence. I owe my career to him though as it turned out the reason for his rodeoing was because he didn't like the saddle he had fitted to him and following frustrations that saddle fitters didn't understand what was happening, I trained to become a saddle fitter and now work for myself as "LT Equestrian saddle fitter" and love my job and I owe this to Danny! Danny has never done a one day event or a cross country, so we will need to spend the coming months getting into shape for this challenge. My confidence is growing on him but a ode is still quite a challenge to us, but I'm sure it's a challenge we can rise to. It will also give me the drive to work less and ride more and live my dream with my horse.

I would be really grateful of any donations towards my challenge, even if it seems very small amount it will all help to go towards an amazing charity.

Thanks for reading.
