Fat Lad Fighting Dementia!
Fundraising for Alzheimer's Research UK
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Less than two years ago, my Granny Lilian was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia. This disease is heartbreaking and to see it take hold of the kindest, most caring woman I have ever met is devastating to me.
Loss of memory, confusion, anxiety, fear... These are just some of the symptoms my beautiful Granny has to cope with on a daily basis and there is nothing I can do to help or protect her.
Unfortunately, living on the other side of the world I feel helpless when it comes to my Granny's care. I am so very proud of all of the family members at home who dedicate so much of their time to making sure that my Granny and her devoted husband - Bertie, get all of the support and attention they so badly need.
Through the family charity page - Memories for Mum (Facebook), we have managed not only to raise money for Alzheimers Research, but also raise awareness in the community of this disease.
I would like to kick my 2017 off by playing a small part in helping raise awareness and also raise money for Alzheimers Research as well as Madelayne Court Care Home, where my Grandmother is now being cared for. The work that both of these organisations do is outstanding.
As you can tell by the title of this page, I am overweight (120kgs), unfit and out of excuses! I want to set myself some challenges over the next few months, getting out of my comfort zone and using my Granny as inspiration to achieve some personal fitness goals.
This is not a New Years resolution, just a fat lad trying to fight dementia. Please help me and support this excellent cause.
