I am taking part in this event to raise money for a brilliant charity, to raise awareness of the importance of mental health, and to raise awareness of the fact that exercise is a great tool in supporting mental health.
Most of us are affected in some way by mental ill health, whether it be ourselves or a loved one - for me it is my boyfriend Andy, who suffers from chronic anxiety and depression. Having seen how a mixture of therapies including talking and exercise helps him, and also realising now just how common it is to suffer mental ill health (and often to ignore it or to be ignored), I am keen to raise as much awareness as possible of the importance of looking after our minds as well as our bodies.
