Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My life has been touched by Dementia. My mum developed Alzheimer's Disease during the years before her death in 2011. Other close family members have also been affected by Dementia. I support the Alzheimer's Society as a volunteer but wanted to do something more to raise awareness about the great work the charity does. My friend Louise mentioned a crazy idea she had about walking along a wall in China. When I had stopped laughing, the idea had infiltrated my subconscious and I began to think - why not?
I am of 'a certain age', and could benefit from improving my general level of health and fitness, but need a significant incentive to keep me on track - what better than to raise money for a great cause whilst participating in a life-enhancing challenge.
Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain and can affect anyone. There are currently over 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, and this figure will rise to 1 million by 2025.
None of us know what the future holds, so please support my friend and l by donating as much as you are able - you never know when you or your loved ones may need the support of the Alzheimer's Society.
