Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am a 44 years old with two beautiful children aged 7 and 16 with my lovely husband (childhood sweetheart), I got diagnosed in March 2016 with Metastatic Breast Cancer Secondary in the Bones.

Cancer took my Mother at the age of 29 and is now taking me but not without a fight, and with your help as sponsors we can do something for the next generation.

Early detection is so important I don't want others to go through this so lets support The University of Nottingham and make it stop sooner.

In March I was rushed into hospital with a low platelet count of 10 and a HB of around 70 needless to say I was having lots of platelet transfusions and blood and had a three week stay.  I was put on chemotherapy treatment called Paclitaxel for 12 weeks which finished on the 14/7/16 and was given Tamoxifen; I also had one radiotherapy on my back.  I was told on treatment 3/4 that if I did not start to respond to this they would have to pull the plug; luckily I kicked in at treatment 6........phew

At the end of August I finally got the full use of my legs back......yeh

So I've decided to get back on my horse and challenge myself, I suppose it's more of a bucket list with one thing on it (apart from staying alive for as long as possible for my family), I have always wanted to go on a working cattle ranch horseback riding in America.

I am funding the trip and expenses  but where you come in is donating what you can to sponsor me to ride and work on the ranch each day for five days. Doesn't sound much of a challenge I know, but believe me it is when just walking to the end of the garden can be exhausting.

My target is to raise one thousand pounds a day to provide funds for Life Cycle 6 to help them develop a Blood Test that will detect Breast Cancer early for women of all ages.

I know all people with any form of cancer have mountains to climb and with your help I would like to make a difference, I am determined to do this challenge for the next generation.

Since the 25/9/16 I have started to ride my horse again I need to get back in the saddle, to enjoy something I used to love and build myself up for the challenge.

I would love you kind people out there to Spur Me On by supporting my fund raising.

On the 14/9/16 I went to see my consultant again, my platelets have dropped from 148 to 74 but my HB is at 120, the consultant says the low platelet count suggests the Tamoxifen is not working.....dam

I have now started chemo again, a course of six cycles one every three weeks, if its not working after cycle three its back to the drawing board.

I know time is not on my side, but I have a back-up plan so if anything happens to me you will still be able to sponsor, as my daughter will do my ride in my memory.

Its now or never.

I so want to see this challenge through.

Thank you for your support.

Just want to update you all

I made it April 2nd flying out, a big massive THANK YOU to all of you, but most of all the research because without this I would not be here, if I would have had this 10 years ago I would not have made it past 2mths, even now I am on a trial drug, I hope this trial will bring comfort in years to come for the next generation my children and your children, we have to sacrifice something in life and I’m proud that me and others are able to do this for the future.

WE WILL BEAT THIS, RESEARCH IS SO IMPORTANT WE MUST GIVE TO
LIVE

Quality of life, see beyond never think it won’t happen to you it can happen at any stage of life young or old, there is no discrimination
only sadness when it hits, so whether its Research, Maggie’s or Marie Curie, please do what you feel best in your heart at that time, everyone is different that’s why we are put on this planet, we make the best in any situation that is put in front of us, we are human after all.

If it helps anyone always tell your GP if you feel something is wrong, keep pushing make them see the problem as a whole and not there and
then, you have to mention it at every visit, although they want to deal with one symptom at a time, if you value your life tell them at every visit, even stuff they have dismissed and reassured you.
