Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Willberry Wonder Pony Charity was started by Hannah Francis, an up and coming teenage Event rider who was diagnosed with bone cancer.  She started the charity to raise money for bone cancer research and grant equine related wishes to seriously ill people.  Sadly Hannah passed away on 1st August 2016, aged only 18, however her legacy lives on - www.willberrywonderpony.org

A challenge has been set for 'middle aged, wimpy' horse riders to train over the next 12 months to compete in a BE80 Event at the end of the season 2017, and raise money for Hannah's Willberry Wonder Pony.  This challenge as been aptly named the Wobbleberry Challenge!  For those who don't know, a BE80 completion is an official event of three disciplines done in one day, a bit like a triathlon but for horse and rider combination - Dressage, Show jumping and Cross country.

How do I feel about this challenge?.......apprehensive.  I may have my own horses but that does not mean in any way I am a confident rider!  I am a 'happy hacker', not a competitor, and I have not jumped (intentionally!!) for over 20 years.  I'm considerably older, maybe not wiser, but I certainly don't bounce like I used to and I now have responsibilities, like a mortgage to pay!  Plus I plan on doing this challenge on a large Clydesdale cross who's middle names are 'Lazy' and 'Why should I'!!!  The training alone is going to be a challenge enough, not only for Bailey but myself too.  But I do like a challenge, something to get by teeth into, to improve myself and help an immensely worthwhile cause, so please show your support and dig deep.

All donations go to the charity - all costs involved with training and equipment is funded by me.

Thank you! Jax and Bailey xx
