We fund bone cancer research & grant wishes to seriously ill people #makingmemories

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hannah Francis was a young event rider who, sadly, lost her life earlier this year to an aggressive form of bone cancer. The charity born from Hannah's legacy, Willberry Wonder Pony, is dedicated to raising money not just for research but also to grant horsey related wishes to very ill people and their families.

The challenge is to compete at a British Eventing 80 event in the autumn of 2017. To get there will require many other challenges along the way - such as getting fit, loosing weight, conquering nerves, training hard, and learning the skills necessary to be able to compete safely.

What is a Wobbleberry??
A shy, elusive creature, the wobbleberry's natural habitat is spectating at BE events, and supporting other riders - but all this is about to change!!!
Key Characteristics:
- not currently fit enough to get round a cross country course
- not currently brave enough to get round a cross country course
- old enough to know better, and know that this will hurt!
- dedicated - to raising money, to training, and conquering the fear
- supportive of each other - aiming to be weeble-esque, "we wobble, but we don't fall down".

I have been riding since I was 6 and as a young teenager, I was pretty much fearless however, that all changed rapidly in my mid twenties.  I had a fall in 2009 where my trusty horse Sam slipped over, leaving me with a severely broken foot, and a fear of falling over. After the loss of my trusted horse Sam in 2014, I have had nothing but bad luck with horses, shattering my confidence more over time.  Finally, in April this year I met my forever horse Joy.  Joy has given me a glimpse of how exciting jumping can be and I think we are ready for this challenge ahead.  Not only am I going to achieve something that I never thought was possible, it's for a great cause.

About the charity

The Charity was established by talented horse rider, Hannah Francis, following her diagnosis with the aggressive form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma. People all over the world followed Hannah's story which she told through her mascot, Willberry. Tragically Hannah passed away at just 18 years old.
