Story

Dear Friends

As you know Charlie and I are not prone to climbing mountains, running marathons etc in aid of charity, but for one day only I am breaking this rule.

After over 30 years absence from competitive riding I am getting back on board in an attempt to complete a British Eventing one day event at Munstead in Godalming on Saturday 24th March.  All in aid of a most wonderful charity that raises funds to help find cures for childhood and teenage cancers.  The founder was an inspirational, talented 18 year old event rider called Hannah Francis, who sadly died in 2017.

If you fancy donating to the cause (we would both prefer this over any gift you might be tempted to bring in June, when your presence and NOT your presents are all that is required) or just come along and have a good laugh at me - then please do.

Finally, a huge thank you to all those who have already donated,.  Bx

Hi all

Apologies that this post event report has taken so long to post.

Just to confirm that I did indeed take part in the British Eventing 80T One Day Event at Munstead Horse Trials last Saturday.  It was a truly memorable and special day.  Lucy's grey mare was fabulous and helped me negotiate the whole day without any dramas.  I started with a fairly average Dressage test (never my strong point), then a clear round Show Jumping and amazingly a clear round in the Cross Country phase too.  I ended up with a few time faults in both the SJ and Cross Country sections.  I guess I am just not as fast across the ground as I was 32 years ago!!

Thanks to the generosity of all you wonderful people, I have so far raised £1,420 for a fabulous Charity and managed to have a great day out in the process.

Also a HUGE thank you to the friends and family who came along and supported me on the actual day.  I did not ride until late in the day and the weather was rather miserable, so hats off to you all.

About the charity

The Charity was established by talented horse rider, Hannah Francis, following her diagnosis with the aggressive form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma. People all over the world followed Hannah's story which she told through her mascot, Willberry. Tragically Hannah passed away at just 18 years old.
