Rett Syndrome is a cruel and unforgiving condition that robs little children of their bodies and their lives. It takes their ability to speak, use their hands and control their bodies. Alethea has already lost all of this and in the last 12 months we have added anoxic seizures (we believe her heart stopped causing a seizure due to lack of oxygen) and drop seizures (with severe ongoing epileptic activity) to the list of burdens her little eight year old body has to deal with. Frighteningly, she is one of the lucky ones, still able to walk and swallow. Every day her symptoms get worse, and every day we are aware of how desperately she needs a cure.

Reverse Rett work tirelessly to make a cure a reality. There are multiple strands of research underway hoping to modify the disrupted gene, fix the missing protein and resolve the impossibly harsh symptoms  of Rett Syndrome.

Come rain or shine, we will be running, crawling and walking in the virtual run on 15th October, some of us in the UK, others in South Africa.

Mark and I will be covering 10km each (7.5km running, 2.5km pushing Alethea in her wheelchair) in The Wycombe Rye - we'd love to see you there!
