I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, in May 2012 after months of being seriously unwell but being fobbed off with anything from a diagnosis of stress to one of 'some sort of holiday thing possibly'. After ending up in the hospital twice with pain and uncontrollable bleeding it was kind of a relief to eventually find out what it was.  I won't give you a graphic account of life with IBD (but always happy to share!) but will just say that on a 'good' (*cough*) day it is inconvenient and embarrassing; on the worst it is isolating, debilitating and at times utterly soul-destroying.

Sufferers have to rely on a lifetime of toxic medications, biological therapy or extreme surgery to keep the symptoms under control or save their lives.

Hopefully by being able to raise a few funds we might be able to do a little to help change this for patients in the future.
