We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

We are driving a 1967 Triumph 2000 MK1 saloon 2,000 miles around the UK in 48 hours because we can and raising money for charity at the same time.   Both Laurence and myself are taking part in our third event having previously successfully completed the first two in different cars with different team members.

The Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run was first devised in 1966 and has since run bi-annually a further 24 times. The idea is simple – to drive Triumph cars around the UK, covering 2000 miles in 48 hours, via a number of control stops. The 2016 running is particularly special as it will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of this unique and well-loved event.

The 2016 RBRR is to be run over the second weekend of October (7-9), starting at Knebworth House near Stevenage, going up to John O'Groats, down to Lands End and finally back to Knebworth. Since 1990 the event has supported UK Charities and entrants have raised over £500,000 so far. The 2016 event is raising funds for Guide Dogs UK, with the hope of reaching £75,000 between all the 150+ teams taking part.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
