Story
Thanks for visiting my Just Giving Page!
September 2016 - Le Crunch
Prediction - Tough Mudder South East 2016 Champion
Preparation - just ate 4 bits of cake today and have never run more than a couple of miles without getting a bad back (a couple of miles is pretty generous)
Reality - probably a lot of moaning about the mud
Although banded around fairly regularly, slanderous statements such as "anti-gas," "fat gym monkey" and the classic "lazy" are rife when linking me to any form of exercise - the legitimacy of these statements is questionable but not without merit. It took very little arm twisting for me to put my name down for this event (just a few extra cookies) and when I found out the charity we would be doing this for it was an easy decision. Charity work is something everyone should be getting involved in and everyone could do more of, myself very much included. On the face of it, this seems like a pretty rubbish way to spend a Saturday. However, raising money for an incredibly worthwhile and important charity is more than enough motivation for me (I will still moan about the mud... A lot). I have a personal target of £100.00 but it goes without saying that the aim is to raise as much as possible. All donations of any size are welcome so don't be shy!
How will my donation help?
£5 could pay for one person to attend a half hour session at a monthly Dementia Café, providing information and support for people with dementia and their carers.
£20 could pay for 100 copies of Understanding and respecting the person with dementia - one of the Society's most requested factsheets.
£50 could fund one of our National Dementia Helpline Advisors for an hour, as they offer practical advice and emotional support to people living with dementia, their carers, family and friends.
£120 could pay to run Talking Point for one day - the Society's 24/7 online community for all people affected by dementia.
Alzheimer's Society supports people to live well with dementia today and funds research to find a cure for tomorrow. We rely on voluntary donations to continue our vital work.
