Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity wherein my love for cats and travelling will be combined. It is one of those rare occasions where the opportunity has arisen to go and do some good in the world.
The challenge will involve a four day trek through the Lesser Himalaya wherein I will reach altitudes of up to 2,842m and will walk approximately 14km per day, taking around 6-8 hours per day.
Thereafter, I will spend three days in the Kanha National Park, wherein I will get hands on experience and support the conservation efforts such as assisting with the removal of weeds, planting trees and habitat maintenance; all of which are important tasks to keep the endemic plants in the National Park from invasive plant species which could change the ecological balance.
Cats Protection is the UK's leading feline welfare charity. 200,000 cats and kittens are re-homed every year through its network of over 250 volunteer run branches and 32 adoption centres. Monies raised will go towards Croydon Cats Protection to help re-home stray and unwanted cats and support its free neutering campaigns.
Having adopted Rita and Mable in December 2015, I have seen and experienced first hand the amazing work undertaken by this charity. This trip will be no mean feat, I am scared of heights and I will need to get my fitness to a level where I can endure hiking for 8-9 hours per day. But bring it on I say....it's all for a good paws :-)
