Story
In just over a week, we will be taking part in the 2016 Blenheim Triathlon as part of the 'Scarlett's Dragons' team to support the amazing fundraising efforts of the amazing Clarkson family. We will swim 750m in a beautiful (if a little cold and murky) lake, cycle 20km and then run a further 5km raising money for Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.)
Bryony and Dan's daughter Scarlett and I both started in Year One at the Dragon in 2010 - she as a new pupil to the school and myself in my first teaching post. Unfortunately, not long after we both started, Scarlett was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
The Clarkson's have been an inspiration to us all - Bryony and Dan have kept their senses of humour and remained positive throughout Scarlett's various treatments and relapses, Finn and Madeleine have been the most supportive and flexible siblings and Scarlett herself has demonstrated the most incredible strength and bravery whilst still remaining a normal 11 year old girl.
Last year, I completed my first Triathlon at Blenheim as part of Scarlett's Dragons and this year we're set to do it again and this time Oli is taking part too. A team of pink and turquoise clad Dragons will begin the race in our own wave on Sunday 5th June at 11.35. If you feel you are able to support me in my second attempt, either by joining us at Blenheim on the day or by donating to Scarlett's Dragons, then please donate through this JustGiving page.
