Story
I will be running as part of a team of wonderful mums at my son's school and also in memory of my 'lawyerly twin' Rosie Choueka and would be grateful for any support you can offer - including joining me for encouragement and fresh air on what will hopefully be a sunny day in Hampstead!
A bit about Rosie...
Rosie and I first met in September 1999 as stagiares in Brussels, where we shared a block of apartments with a number of ladies I found to be equally remarkable, intelligent and with a positive energy (a special call out to Tricia, Elena, Kathi, Hayley and Marie). We all formed a unique bond, often meeting on our stairwell to share news of our day, before entering our own front doors. Many a night was spent at the local Irish pub (the James Joyce, if I recall correctly!) and enjoying the diverse stagiaire parties, that kept us up until the early hours on a Friday night, after a week of hard graft in the Commission. The 6 months went by in a flash, but were one of the best periods in my life and cemented friendships that continued and matured long after we left the cobbled streets of Brussels in our tracks.
Back in London, Rosie and I began our training contracts, qualified as solicitors, met our future husbands, married in the same year, had our children and worked valiently to juggled our careers with our familiy lives. Throughout it all, Rosie was a true inspiration. My children came a few years after her first, but seeing her achieve balance, showed me it could be done despite my ocasional doubts about my own abilities to successfully strive for a career alongside my family. It was always refreshing catching up with Rosie on anything (and everything!). I miss her friendship immensely. This one's for you Rosie xx
