We raise funds for financial education to to help children and young people.

Story

This summer, 5 Blackstone employees, Sarah Diplock, Rebecca Flower, Max De Biolley, Gero Moutavtchiyski and Paul Tuffin are going to discover just how far (painful) cycling 100 miles is going to be.

On July 31st we will be taking on the Prudential Ride London, a 100 mile cycling challenge, in support of MyBnk.

90% of adults have never received any form of financial education and just 1 in 3 young people, aged 16-24, have at least £1,000 saved.

Each £20 raised will enable the charity MyBnk to arm a young person with real life money skills to take control of their finances and reduce the risk of debt and poverty.

MyBnk is a recipient of a Blackstone Charitable Foundation Innovation Grant which is allowing them to develop and pilot Business Battle Plus, a program that will provide students with the opportunity to run a real business to test their entrepreneurial skills.

By raising funds for MyBnk, we will help to equip vulnerable young people, including young care leavers with the survival money management skills needed to transition into independent living, plan for their future financial needs, and avoid unsustainable debt.

For some of the more naive members of the team this will be a first into the world of padded shorts, chamois crème… and glucose gels, for others.. This is an opportune moment to don the lycra and race the route with Bradley Wiggins –esq form. Apparently.. it’s the taking part that counts.

100 miles is a wheely long way and WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.

Together with young people, we create and deliver innovative, high-impact and high-energy financial education programmes. Our experts help to build young people’s money knowledge, skills, mindsets and habits at key transitional moments. Two thirds of our work is with young adults in vulnerable circumstances focusing on ‘survival’ money skills for independent living. Many of our programmes are fully funded and can be delivered either directly in-person, virtually via secure video link or as online courses.
