I am running for the Fragile X Society to help raise awareness of the syndrome and improve the care of people affected by fragile X. Last year my granddad who was a "Fragile X carrier" passed away after a long period of physical and mental decline attributed to Fragile X Tremor Ataxia Syndrome. 

Fragile X is a genetic disorder and the most common inherited cause of a learning disability. It can cause concentration problems, social, emotional and communication difficulties related to extreme shyness and anxiety in social situations. 

The charity provides an invaluable support network to those who understand the challenges that may be associated with the syndrome and strives to provide more information about research that will allow suffers to be supported more effectively to reach their full potential.
