Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This isn't my first journey round Britain in an old Triumph car, we have done it before, in this car in 2014, and in the Triumph 2000 Ferguson Formula 4 wheel drive estate in 2012.

The total distance we cover is a little over 2000 miles in 48 hours. Leaving London Friday night, we breakfast at John O'Groats Saturday morning, and Lands End on Sunday morning, returning to North London (Knebworth) of Sunday night.

There's about 150 old triumphs taking part this year, and its quite an experience, with service stations and control halts along the way looking like the 1960s and 70s full of triumph cars parked up or refueling.

We are car number 3 this year, and I am hoping that the Triumph Dolomite Sprint will not misbehave itself again on the RBRR - there's a great deal of sense in preparing the car early and using it regularly. I did this last time, BUT on the evening before the event started the timing chain tensioner failed, resulting in an early wake up call next morning to replace it prior to the start of the event

The lurid details of this breakdown are on my blog at http://standardtriumphcars.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/the-curse-of-dolomite-strikes-again.html

Talking of lurid details, Anne didn't undertake the journey last time, a "friend" Andy Pearce undertook to co-drive and I think the best way to tell our story of the journey is a link to his blog posting for the RBRR http://shedtunecars.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/4300-miles-two-sheds.html

Says it all really !

On our last two RBRR events Anne and I have raised over £2000 for Charity and we are hoping to do better this year, so please help us

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
