Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am trying to raise some much needed funding to help support sufferers of Psoriasis. As many of you will know I personally suffer from it and its a real pain to live with - it effects the biggest organ of the body - the skin. Its a problem that affects between 2% and 3% of the UK population- up to 1.8 million people as an estimate. Funding for the Psoriasis Association helps to raise awareness and support for people who suffer by completing research into the condition as well as giving a forum for advice.

Psoriasis is generally a life long condition and is often linked to psoriatic arthritis- a type of arthritis associated with the skin condition. As a condition it is often linked to low self esteem and depression as it is very hard to treat and currently not possible to cure all together.

To raise funds for this charity I'm going to be completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge - 26 miles, 3 peaks, 12 hours. Regardless of the weather, hiking across the Pennine Range in the Yorkshire Dales national park.

The challenge itself includes reaching the summit of the following three mountains (1600m height in total), one after the other and the covering of the 26 mile distance between them on foot, and all within 12 hours;

The mountains included in the challenge are;

  • Whernside (736m/2,415 ft),
  • Ingleborough (723m/2,372 ft)
  • Pen-y-ghent (694m/2,277 ft)

We'll be doing this on Saturday 28th May 2016, setting off from Ribblesdale at (or around) sunrise.
