Story
On 16th of April, 9 of us from Monmouth Rowing Club will be embarking on a 90km rowing race in Utrecht Holland. We are doing this to raise money for Velindre Hospital, which is a regional centre of excellence for cancer. One of our crew was treated there last year, and the charity has been chosen by the club as it's charity of the year. We are joining forces with other scullers from England who are making up other crews. The race is in four timed sections, totalling 71Km, with 19km to row between the stages. Having participated in some distance events in the past, I know it's going to be painful! Particularly the muscles of the back and forearms, ischial tubercles and blistered hands. We will be travelling across numerous rivers and canals, some too narrow to row through and crossing the Rhine Ship Canal, which can have waves up to a metre high. Louise is coming to support and take in the sights of Holland. It's tulip country and they should be flowering around then. John is the oldest member of our crew at 70. Hats off to him. So don't tell me you're too old to take up a sport!!!
If you would like to donate that is most appreciated..
