Story

Well, here we are again- we took part in the 2014 Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run in Adam's freshly restored Dolomite 1850HL, covering 2000 miles through England, Wales and Scotland in 48 hours. It all went rather well so we thought we'd tempt fate and come back for round 2 in 2016. Same car, same crew and the same basic route, but the club selects a new charity to support every year- this year Guide Dogs was chosen. This is perhaps not one of the more mainstream charities but it's one that makes a significant difference to the lives of many people across the UK and it's one we're really proud to be supporting.

The event has taken place (nearly) every other year since 1966, making this the 25th run. Although the details of the route change from year to year it starts from London, heading to John O'Groats and then down to Lands End before returning to London for the finish. The 2000 miles are driven almost non stop, with just breakfast at either end of the country and a few brief coffee breaks as we get our route books signed at the designated Control Stops along the way. Although there are several long motorway sections the route also includes a significant number of interesting back roads that provide a real challenge to both the car and the drivers- especially in the small hours of the morning. Completing the route succesfully and within the time constraints would be difficult in a modern car; running it in a near 40 year old car that we restored ourselves adds a whole extra dimension.

We'll be covering the fuel costs for car & crew ourselves so 100% of the money raised will be going to charity. It's going to be good fun and we're really looking forward to it, but it's a very real challenge for us and for the car. Your support is much appreciated- thank you.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
