Story
Why are we doing this?
As this is a 'significant' (!) year for each of us, we have decided to start by challenging ourselves from our comfort zone to support an extremely worthwhile cause. We have been really inspired by this story of a 'local lad' and a strong Kenilworth community who gathered around him and his family, to raise money for an important charity, Teenage Cancer Trust, in his name.
Milan Patel was a football mad 14 year old boy who had been playing
football for Kenilworth Wardens Football Club since the age of 6.
In January 2012, aged 11, Milan was diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer. Despite fighting this illness for 3 years, with several rounds of gruelling treatment and twice being given the all clear, the cancer spread. Sadly, in March 2015, Milan lost his battle and passed away peacefully at home with all his family.
During the whole of this traumatic time Milan had continued to train and play football whenever possible around his treatment. His positive attitude towards his condition and his battle was an inspiration to all.
While for us the thought of walking down the side of the Kenilworth 'skyscraper' is absolutely terrifying, if this in some small way helps to make a difference to support people like Milan and his family, through The Teenage Cancer Trust, then it will be worthwhile.
