Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit ourJustGiving page.

MAG is one of the most experienced, effective and respected
organisations working in humanitarian landmine clearance and bomb disposal, sharing the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for their role in banning landmines.

MAG’s Cycle Sri Lanka Challenge will see 25 senior industry
figures from the convenience retail sector cycle 440km across Sri Lanka, through challenging terrain, temperatures and conditions, to raise much needed funds for the organisation.

And Bridge Insurance Brokers Ltd is going to support them – with a virtual Sri Lanka bike ride  -  the comfort of Cobac House, every day from Monday 8 Feb – Friday 12 Feb.

How it’s going to work

  • The very helpful people at the GymGroup on Portland St have kindly offered us use of a bike, which will be in Reception
  • Each morning / lunchtime, MAG will text us to let us know how many kms they have already covered (they’re 4 ½ hours ahead of us)
  • 25 colleagues will take it in turns to match (or better) the distance the Sri Lanka team have covered

Sponsorship

  • Donations can be made through this JustGiving page
  • We’ll have a MAG collection tin in reception, should any visitors wish to contribute
  • Please let your friends and colleagues across the industry know what we're doing and encourage them to support MAG, the 25 intrepid Sri Lanka cyclists - and the virtual team at Bridge!

About the charity

Every single day, 15 people are killed or injured because of landmines and other explosive weapons. Half of all civilian casualties are children. MAG finds and destroys these weapons to save lives and rebuild futures; helping people to grow crops, attend school and build homes.
