Story
My awesome pal Joe and his partner, Gia had a real rough ride last year, losing their beautiful 4 month old daughter, Baby Nelle to type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
SMA is a relatively unheard of disease that effects the motor nerve cells in the spinal core, taking away the ability to walk, eat or breathe and although 9/10 people probably haven't heard of it, it is the number one genetic cause of death for infants.
Baby Nelle, Joe and Gia received huge support from a little charity called SMA Support UK and in order to both help raise awareness of the disease, along with raising money to assist in further research, a group of us, along with Joe have agreed to complete an Ironman 70.3 in Staffordshire on June 12th.
The Ironman 70.3 consists of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride finishing with a 13.1 mile run a this will be a huge challenge for all of us!
If you would like to donate to Spinal Muscular Atrophy Support UK, I would be very grateful and donations can be made through this page.
Thank you - Craig and #teamnelle
