We help farmers grow more and sell for more to reduce poverty in eastern Africa
Story
In early November this
year 14 members of the UK food and farming industry, including myself, are
going to traverse the Bale Mountains in southern Ethiopia in aid of Farm Africa
. We are going to trek 117km over five and a bit days, almost all
of it over 3000metres (10,000feet) and aim to scale four 4000metre peaks
on route. To our knowledge the whole mountain range hasn’t been traversed
before and all of the route is off road, without vehicle access and simply pack
horses to move the camp. So, it’s five nights at altitude under canvas and long
challenging treks each day. At the end we will be visiting Farm Africa’s
project in southern Bale.
We are an international organisation working to build a prosperous rural Africa. We help farmers to increase their harvests, build their incomes and sustain natural resources, partnering with governments and the private sector to find effective ways to fight poverty.
