We run a day centre to support people who are homeless

Story

On Friday 18th September we will begin a 3 day journey along the river Stour in order to raise money for Catching Lives and Alzheimer's society.

The journey will begin on the Friday and cover 40 miles of river, emerging at Pegwell Bay near Sandwich on Sunday afternoon.

The money raised for Catching Lives will go towards the running of the Canterbury Community Shelter, which is set to open for its 6th year this December and run till the end of February 2016,  offering both a safe space to sleep and the chance to work with staff to find accommodation for up to 15 homeless people a night. The shelter is partly funded by Canterbury City Council but still relies on fundraising events, and also the support of the local community, in order to run each year.

The other half of the money raised will go to Alzheimer's society, which is one of the leading charities in the UK that support individuals affected by dementia.
