Story
I work with families everyday affected by HIE: Hypoxic (lack of oxygen) Ischaemic (restricted blood flow) Encephalopathy (affecting the brain), but 2 families in particular are close to my heart. Two school friends have both experienced tragic events in which their daughters suffered from HIE. My best friend and her family experience heart ache everyday as Poppy only survived for 3 days- she would have been 4 this Christmas. Another, Sarah whom I haven't seen for years since school and then met in nightmare circumstances at work after her daughter Heidi was admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care for cooling- therapeutic hypothermia shown to reduce further damage from hypoxia. Heidi (little miss sunshine pants) shows us every day what a soldier she is battling the effects of her experiences and Sarah has brilliantly written about this in her blog- Please visit www.hiejourney.wordpress.com.
My sons and I are joining Tameside Buggy Push to support these fantastic mummies and raising awareness for many more families who need the support charities such as Bliss provide.
Any donations would be gratefully received
Thank you Becky xx
