Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Entering the Birmingham Half Marathon enables me to really push myself out of my comfort zone; running isn't one of my favourite exercises and I've certainly never ran further than a couple of miles.
I wanted to take part to challenge myself & raise money for an incredibly good cause - I know my fundraising goal of £500 isn't huge amounts of money but I'm hoping collectively team KPMG can raise an honourable figure for those less fortunate than ourselves.
Around 12,000 people a year die from blood cancers in Britain, equivalent numbers to those who die from breast cancer. The prospect of survival for many adults with blood cancers is still less than 50%.
Anyone can develop leukaemia at any age. Although it is more common in adults, leukaemia is the most common form of childhood cancer, with most children diagnosed under the age of 5.
There is an urgent need for leukaemia patients to access new, potentially lifesaving drugs so they can share in the remarkable progress that is being made in so many other cancers.
Knowing any money we raise could potentially make the difference between life & death is more than enough motivation for me to work my backside off! I'll make sure I not only complete the entire 13 miles, but put in a respectable time too!
