Story
Charity Football for Cancer (FFC) http://www.ffcevents.com/ . FFC is a fledgling charity set up about 5 years ago in the form of a fundraising football tournament in the Portsmouth area. FFC achieved official charity status last year which means that the proceeds of ANY fundraising event can now be donated to the charity. Having played for a number of local football teams near Portsmouth over the years and having recovered myself 18months ago from Bowel Cancer I took part in this year’s fundraising tournament and it seems an obvious choice for me to be the charity I continue to support and hope others will too. On Saturday September 19th 2015, fourteen of our brave Newtonites will be tackling the fearsome Spartan Race together in order to raise invaluable funds for FIVE fantastic causes.
Football for Cancer (FFC) is all about bringing people together to raise awareness and much needed funds for all those affected by cancer through sporting events. Established in 2008 as a fundraising organisation, now a charity in our own right looking to grow and grow to build for a great future. More on this charity and the difference its making please click the following link http://www.ffcevents.com/#!about/
Taking place at Ashburnham Place in the rolling countryside of East Sussex, Newton’s group of Spartans will be tackling mud, fire, water, and 15 obstacles that will strike fear into the hearts of many of our valiant first-timers. There will be many challenges, both physical and mental, that confront our team on their path to Spartan victory, a mere taste of which can be experienced in the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2r-tHrhaWg0
Hopefully all of the above is enough to inspire you to make a donation to our two worthy causes, no matter what size, and thanks in advance for all of your support.
