The Friends of the PWRR is a military charity that has been set up to raise funds to support members of The Regiment, both past and present.

Over the last 10 years The Army Tigers have seen continuous action in Iraq, the Balkans and Afghanistan and have been in every theatre of war since the Second World War. PWRR is one of the most decorated regiments for gallantry in the British Army which includes 57 Victoria Crosses, including one of only two serving recipients of the Victoria Cross –  Sgt Johnson Beharry –
as well as a many others who have won gallantry awards such as the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross and the Military Cross.

PWWR have lost a number of their own and some  soldiers have suffered life-changing injuries. The Friends of PWRR have recently been helping one of their soldiers, Jay Baldwin, who, January 2012, lost both his legs in a Taliban IED explosion. Our military charity has funded Jay’s osseointegration surgery. More about Jay’s journey and life changing surgery can be found on his blog. One of The Friends main concerns is the impact these experiences will have in the years to come and we are already seeing a number of soldiers suffering from or showing signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
