Story
Hey everyone! On the 23rd August I'm going to cycle 75 miles around Notts and Derby on my crappy mountain bike with basically no training for 'Life Cycle 5'. This event hopes to raise £350,000 towards research into dementia and it's all organised by the University of Nottingham. By donating through my page you get to directly help this worthy cause and laugh at me and my sore ass at the same time! That is value for money.
Here is the story...
More than 800,000 people in the UK have dementia and one in three of us have a friend or close family member who is affected. Yet, dementia receives only about 1/12th of the research funding devoted to cancer. The target of Life Cycle 5 is to raise £350,000 (and my goal is to raise £250) to enable the University of Nottingham to use their Nobel Prize winning expertise in MRI scanning to conduct world-leading research into the different ways that dementia damages brain cells.
Having completed four successful Life Cycles - raising in excess of £1.5m for research into palliative and end of life care, increasing opportunities for students irrespective of financial means, stroke rehabilitation research, and children's brain tumour research - The University of Nottingham's challenge this year is to gear up and beat dementia!
Your support for Life Cycle 5 will pave the way to earlier diagnosis and better treatment. You will also get to laugh at Alex Nicholls crying.
Thank you so much for your support!!!!
