Story

Well all done now. Phew! Friday was horrible, rain in the morning, clearing to heavy showers (including hail) and a head wind (which was always my biggest fear). But battled through (slowly).

To my surprise I didn't feel too bad on Saturday and once over Buttertubs it was quite a pleasant day.

A couple of the group didn't make the second day and that's really tough after all all their hard work and I feel for them.

Many thanks to those of you who have sponsered me and to those of you who have helped me with the training and to those who have had to put up with my training.

Off to ice my bottom now.

Our Director of Development & his wife sadly lost a new born baby, Bruno, a few years ago and set up the fund in his name as a lasting tribute to him.  The aim is to provide vulnerable and disadvantaged children the benefit of an Ampleforth education.

The course is tough, to say the least.  Starting at Chatsworth and following much of the route of the Tour de France, we end day 1 at Aysgarth and from there to Ampleforth on day 2.  There are plenty of tough climbs along the way.

I entered the challenge last summer and then had to go and buy a bike and then had to go and learn how to ride it!  The training has been challenging, 5.30am sessions on the Watt bike in the gym through the winter and long, long weekend rides more recently. I'm not at all sure its within my capability to complete the course.  I haven't found anyone slower than me yet to ride with but I guess I'll soon find out!
