Mary's life came to a sudden end in January this year due to an aortic dissection. She was rushed to Papworth Hospital in the early hours of the morning, as they are one of very few hospitals in the UK that are equipped to deal with such a life-threatening condition. Despite all odds Papworth Hospital did operate on Mary, several times, in an attempt to save her life. Unfortunately, although they did all that they could, they were unable to save her. However, the hospital's care was impeccable, both towards Mary and her  family, and, although in reality there was little hope, they continued to give us hope until the end. This is why we wanted to support the hospital in any way we could, just like they supported the Townsends when they needed it most.
