Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This is the first event I have taken part in for the Keep the Beat charity. I wanted to join in on an event because the charity raises funds for children with heart defects and is such a great cause, so when I was offered the opportunity by a friend of joining in on a ride I said yes straight away.
So this year I am taking part in an event in memory of Harvey Lear. The "Remembering Harvey" challenge is going to be tough. Cycling Coast-Coast (Sescale-Whitby) in a day! This is 148 miles with just the 4500mts of climbing thrown in. There are 24 of us attempting to complete the ride. And don't tell anyone but I haven't cycled properly in several years and it is going to hurt and I am definitely going to be the one everyone is waiting for at the end. But I'm determined to finish it as it's for a great cause.
And if I get through the coast to coast ride and can still move... I will be attempting to swim Winderemere both ways, which is a total of over 20 miles overnight on the 1st August. No wetsuit. Last year I swam a one way Winderemere which was a big challenge in itself, but swimming two way is going to be way more difficult. We will kick off at 5pm and swim into the dark and swim overnight and hopefully finish the next morning. I have John McCallister and his team supporting me in a kayak and boat. I have never swam that far and never swam that long at night so it is real challenge that I am going to have to work towards so if you can spare some money to sponsor me for a great charity that will spur me on. It isn't guaranteed that I will finish, not that many people do but I will try my hardest.
Please take 5 mins to look at the keep the beat website to see the fantastic work that Adam and his Family do at www.keepthebeat.co.uk and to see the inspiration behind the Charity, Adams son Albert, who has suffered with a heart condition since Birth and recently underwent a successful heart transplant.
Along with the fantastic support Keep the Beat already provide to families at Glenfield Hospital, the Charity has been asked to fund raise for the purchase of a simulation Manequin so that the hospital can provide a permanent simulation cubicle in the Intensive care unit at a cost £25,000.
Please spare whatever you can. Every pound counts. All the money will be put to great use.
Thank you
Jai
