Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. At the end of May I'm planning to cycle 200 miles in two days up and down some of the biggest hills in Britain, with 18,000ft of climb (over three miles straight up).

I'm raising money for the Bruno Bursary fund, set up by my friend Jozef and his wife Vivian, to commemorate and celebrate the short life of their son Bruno, who was born and died in January 2012.

Their ambitious plan is to raise a large sum of money as an endowment in Bruno’s name, which can fund the cost of one student every single year in perpetuity at Ampleforth College, where Jozef works (and went to school).

The students receiving Bruno's Bursary over the years will be from a background most needing help and support, the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people whose lives could change forever as a result.

They have been fundraising for the last three years and are getting close to their total, but need our help to get there. Which is why Joey decided to put 200 of his friends through 48 hours of hell :)

The ride itself is a monster, taking in some of the toughest climbs that Derbyshire and Yorkshire have to offer, including large sections of the ‘grand depart’ from the Tour de France last year.

Just over a hundred miles on day one, with a massive 11000ft of ascent (about two miles straight up), with a second day of just under 100 miles and climb of 7000ft.

It will hurt, basically. Really rather a lot. All for a great cause though, and you will be helping to create something that will outlast any aches and pains. Thank you.
