Some people may not know I have Myalgic Encephalomyelitis- ME. I have had it since I was 21. I have, in the past, tried to 'hide' it as it is such a misunderstood illness, with little, or no, recognition,  by the medical profession and the media, leading to general misconception too....

This desperately needs to change.

 It is a severe illness. In one way, I'm lucky, I suffer from a mild/moderate form. However, for me still, not a day goes by when I feel well. I am either/or in constant pain, have flu- like symptoms, sore throats, swollen glands, generally feeling very Ill. Sleep problems,and although  I'm lucky I CAN work,  I still suffer severe exhaustion- the thought of going out the house feels impossible!! This is mild...

Many are bed bound and house bound. Some needing 24hr care,a condition which can be life threatening . Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E) is a neurological illness and has varying degrees of severity. Approximately 25% of M.E sufferers are Severe, with many wheelchair bound, housebound or bed bound. 

I would love a day when the illness is recognised for what it is- taken seriously, a disease effecting the  whole system neurologically.  A cure needs to be found, and  the only way for this to happen is for money to be raised in order to raise awareness and research to take place. Many people are effected by this illness are severe....

So many people are suffering and dying from this illness and medical research is needed. For that we need money. Walk for M.E is a national initiative to raise money and awareness for Invest in ME (ME Research). Many different groups of people are setting up their own walks across the country.
