Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to raise money for Caring Matters Now, a charity that supports children and families born with Congenital Melanocytic Naevus . 

This is a cause close to my heart as my son was born with whole limb CMN 14 years ago. This is a very rare congenital condition that presents as large birthmarks covering up to 80% of the body. At the time little was known about the condition and there were many conflicting opinions and after 2 years of uncertainty, fear and worry, a chance meeting led to an appointment at Great Ormond Street Hospital where his condition was finally correctly assessed.

Since then research has widen the understanding for parents who have children who are born with CMN, the need for added precautions and management as there is a higher risk of melanoma and in some cases neurological problems. Research at GOSH is privately paid for by sponsorship and Caring Matters Now charity donations. Dr Veronica Kinsler has been working on CMN research for many years now as well as looking for answers to prevent complications that can be life threatening to children with this condition.

I want to ensure that anyone who has a child with CMN, gets the support, care and information they need. To do this the charity needs more funds to further research and that's where I come in with the support of all my friends and colleagues. I am not an athlete, I spend most of my day sat behind a desk or in my car. This challenge has required dedication and determination on my part to get fit and ready to do this .
