Story

Survive The Yomp is no walk in the park. Set in the stunning Scottish Highlands aroundhistoric Achnacarry Castle, this is a 30-mile hike across rugged and remote terrain; they don’t call it ‘Commando Country’ for nothing.

Part of the Commando Spirit Series of fundraising challenge events “Survive The Yomp” mirrors the training exercise normally only experienced by Royal MarinesCommandos.

You can see my story of the highlights of last year's Survive TheYomp here:

On 10th September 2016 I am determined to be one of those that Survive The Yomp again – more importantly I intend to raise significant funds for Royal Marines and their families in need. They risk their all for us and never leave anyone behind – will you show your support and sponsor me today?

In my day job I am tenacious, self-sufficient, highly organised and efficient and have always gone after what I am determined to do. I'm very down to earth with a little bit of eclectic, think outside the box, adventure thrown in. I never want to be that person in later life that says I wish I'd had the guts to travel, experience and learn. I love Scuba diving, all kinds of travel; putting on a pair of walking boots and heading for the hills and trying new experiences. Given that I feel I have been very fortunate to be able to do that, it's time to give back to those who are not as able to achieve that as easily despite their willingness, hard work and sacrifices.

I want to raise £10,000 to really make a difference - so please sponsor me. Thank you!

Where do the funds go?

CommandoSpirit’s Survive The Yomp is raising funds for the work of the Royal MarinesCharitable Trust Fund.

The RoyalMarines Charitable Trust Fund has probably the widest purposes of almost anyService charity – helping the wounded and injured; providing support for those still serving by funding decompression activities, homecoming events and memorials; providing through-life support to those who have left the Corps or have lost loved ones. Quite simply, the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund will help when others cannot.
