Story
This summer we are hitchhiking to Morocco through Leeds University RAG to raise money for the amazing charity, the African Children's Fund. Unfortunately, Charities, especially those centred in the third world are becoming more of a challenge to trust in terms of where your money is going and how it is being spent. The African Children's fund however, is both an admirable and trustworthy charity who work to break down the barriers preventing African children leading happy and fulfilled lives. It prides itself on having its projects run by local staff who are committed to - and know the needs of - their own communities. Having spent last year in eastern and southern Africa myself (Kitty) I feel particularly strongly about raising as much money as possible to help push towards African children having a safe upbringing, aided by the huge importance of education. The enthusiasm and passion of the children I met along my journey for education, something we regard as so basic in the western world, has deeply moved and inspired me. Whilst Hitchhiking to Morocco certainly presents us both with an exciting adventure and I am sure will teach us a great deal along the way, raising money for a great cause is what come first and foremost. We will be setting off from Leeds on the 19th June and hoping to make it all the way to Marrakech, the capital city of Morocco, by the 27th- having not spent any money on transport! Please give whatever you can to support us but mainly support the brilliant charity Africa's Children Fund.
