Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page and donate.

Our team's goal is to raise S$750,000 (GBP375,000) for the Mission to Seafarers - the world's largest international maritime welfare charity providing help and support to crews in ports worldwide. My personal goal is to raise S$10,000 (GBP5,000).

I am participating in Mission RASI (Row Around Singapore Island) because, as a member of the shipping industry in Singapore, I value the important work done by the Mission to Seafarers in providing care to those suffering illness, injury and distress at sea. The services they provide are invaluable in supporting our seafarers. I am also inspired by my mother, Julie Welch, who - aside from being the first ever female sports writer in Fleet Street - has participated in numerous London marathons and long-distance walks of up to 100 miles.

Mission RASI is the first of its kind endurance relay row around Singapore. On 22 and 23 April 2015, to coincide with Singapore Maritime Week and Singapore's 50th anniversary year, over 40 representatives of the international maritime community will row around Singapore island. These brave people, many of whom have never rowed before, plan to circumnavigate Singapore's 140km within 24 hours in two classic ocean-going rowing boats.
