We provide intensive physiotherapy to help to disabled children reach their potential

Story

Please read below to see why I am taking on this challenge to support a charity that does such amazing work whilst relying wholly on public donations:

The Footsteps Foundation and Rosie.

In October 2009 my husband and I contacted the Footsteps Foundation. Our twenty two month old daughter had recently been diagnosed with a rare chromosome deletion.  She was not sitting, crawling or walking. Whilst we were receiving physiotherapy care through the NHS we knew that we wanted and needed to give our little girl so much more. We attended a consultation appointment where Rosie was assessed with a view to attending the Footsteps Centre.

That was almost six years ago. We are in the very fortunate position of being a local family and are able to take Rosie once a week for intensive physiotherapy. We are in no doubt that this has contributed greatly to Rosie’s physical development. Her core strength has improved significantly to enable her to sit unassisted for extended periods of time. She can be placed in a crawl position and is able to bear weight through her legs. She has formed a very strong bond with her therapist and trusts him implicitly. Thus she works well and co-operates with a rigorous hour of stretches and physiotherapy!

Through the kind donations given to the Footsteps Foundation it is allowing Rosie and many other children like her to access a unique programme of physiotherapy. The results of which are profound and for some life changing.
