I've done this ride before, and that's why I ask why am I doing it again... its a long way, It hurts and takes weeks and weeks of preparation.

I'm doing this for a few reasons, firstly to remember Harvey who sadly passed away at the age of 7 in 2011 - no further explanation required, but having lived with a sick child for a few years I can only imagine the tragic impact a loss like this has on a family. I don't know how they cope.

There's 24 others decided to do this ride including Harveys father, Bryan. Watching them prepare has been inspiring, they have decided to raise funds for KEEPTHEBEAT and I want to try and support them before and during the ride.

On a personal level I also want to "tip my hat" again to the staff at Glenfield who got Albert from 4 days old through to his transplant in September 2014. Without their excellent care, belief and bloody mindedness on occasions he would have never had a chance. Their judgments and determination was fundamental to his survival.

KEEPTHEBEAT continues to provide Equipment, fund staff training and on-going support to the unit - and being part of this event is a fitting tribute for me.
